Josh Ritter is such a great songwriter. I really appreciate the raw quality he brings to his singing and recording: the idea that it is the song that matters, and the performance is but a vehicle for it to shine through. I recorded a cover of one of my favorites by him, "Change of Time."
I love this song because of its strange mixture of happiness and sadness, contentment, comfort, and struggle. When I'm up, I play it. When I'm down, I play it. For me it's the musical equivalent to a cup of hot tea. Thanks for listening. |
